My next challenge...Gliders.
When I was a young boy I always gazed at the sky and wondered what it would be like to fly with the birds, it is a feeling most of us have when we're young I guess, and having that dream fulfilled requires extreme determination.
Years passed and after much consideration I finally enrolled in flight school last year, it is fantastic: the lessons learned, the classes, my schoolmates, the airfield, etc. it's all what I expected and more. One day an instructor asked why I wanted to be a pilot, he told me to feel the answer and then say it. I thought about the why, why I wanted to fly, the reasons for taking the lessons, etc. and then I just told him: " I want to be able to move through the air like the eagles and the geese...to be able to soar for miles on end with just the wind on my side." He gave me a grin and asked if I had opted for non-powered flight certification to which I nodded with hesitation, the he just said: " have you considered sailplanes for your next certification?"
---OF COURSE I HAD! It's one of the great things I thought of when enrolling, I even told the instructor that I wanted to have my private pilot's license and then my Instrument certification and then gliders and acrobatic maneuvers in that order... he said it would take five years to gain the necessary experience and flight hours, but that the first step was the one I took then: Welcome to Flight School !
